Empowering Carbon Neutrality

The award, which has been organised every two years since 2012 is intended for a wide spectrum of best practices in energy and resource management to drive the following values which represent the evaluation criteria:

Creativity &
Innovation

In terms of demonstrated systems and processes influencing energy technologies and opportunities with potential for further development and transferability to others.

Energy
Efficiency

Representing reduction of specific energy consumption through general housekeeping measures, best practices, retrofitting inefficient equipment and new projects in the usage of energy.

Increase of Renewable Energy share in energy source portfolio

Use of renewable energy such as solar, wind, biomass, biogas and other cleaner energy sources and gradual reduction of dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

Economic, Social &
Environmental Impact

Potential to delivering significant benefits including improvements in quality of life, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and supporting sustainable energy, in addition, to building knowledge capacity and corporate social responsibility.

In addition:
  • Applicant shall be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of delivering intended objectives and demonstrated performance supported by facts and figures on how to support successful results in the listed category. For example, for the Energy Efficiency category, applicant must showcase results associated to energy savings such as saving in water, electricity, fuel, waste, chemicals and/or other resources.
  • Applicant shall demonstrate the environmental impact consequences (i.e., lower carbon emissions, reduced waste) for implementing a given energy management or energy conservation project/program.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial impact through a life cycle cost analysis by outlining its payback period and internal rate of return (IRR).
  • Applicant shall address innovative and creative aspects by demonstrating the applied process, technology, circular economy and employed methodology.
  • Applicant shall showcase successful examples of energy efficient projects and initiatives that can be replicated and reproduced elsewhere by outlining its market needs and ease of use.
  • Applicant shall exhibit involvement of stakeholders such as customers, stakeholders, and end-users in the project or program during its development and /or after completion to highlight the increased awareness and, where feasible, capacity and knowledge building.
  • Applicant shall demonstrate potential for continual improvement in the future.
