Dubai, UAE, 24 February 2025: The Emirates Energy Award (EEA), organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, continues to establish itself as one of the world’s leading initiatives in supporting sustainability and clean energy. As nominations for the fifth edition of the award close on March 1, 2025, the award continues to attract quality entries for its ten categories from countries around the world. The award aims to honour projects and initiatives that contribute to the transition to sustainable energy, with a focus on innovation and effective solutions to environmental challenges.

Vision and Mission: Promoting carbon neutrality

Under the theme “Promoting Carbon Neutrality”, the fifth edition of the award is in line with the UAE’s goals to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and with the efforts of the Emirate of Dubai, which is launching pioneering projects aimed at transforming the emirate into a global hub for clean energy, in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 100% of clean energy production capacity from renewable energy sources by 2050.

The slogan of the award for its fifth session highlights the importance of the role that public and private institutions must play in reducing carbon emissions and increasing reliance on renewable energy sources.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said : “Dubai, under the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is keen to support all efforts, initiatives and projects that enhance development and sustainability, and achieve the global transformation towards a green economy and clean and renewable energy. These future visions support stimulating innovation and honoring pioneering projects that provide practical solutions to climate challenges. Thanks to its ambitious initiatives, Dubai has become a global model to be emulated in the field of clean energy, environmental sustainability, the transition to a green economy, and increasing reliance on renewable and clean energy sources.”

His Highness added : “The fifth edition of the Emirates Energy Award, under its new theme ‘Promoting Carbon Neutrality’, is in line with the UAE’s goals to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and with the efforts of the Emirate of Dubai, which is launching pioneering projects aimed at transforming the emirate into a global hub for clean energy, in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 100% of clean energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.”

His Highness said that the award represents an important step towards accelerating efforts to shift to clean and renewable energy, as it attracts a group of innovators and experts from different countries around the world to exchange solutions and experiences. The award encourages institutions and individuals to adopt responsible practices that contribute to achieving sustainability, and enhances international cooperation to transform ideas into tangible projects that support sustainable development goals, and ensure a better future for future generations.

His Highness stressed that the Emirates Energy Award is not just a tribute to distinguished projects, but rather an open invitation regionally and globally to interact and participate in building a more innovative and sustainable environment.

His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the Emirates Energy Award , stressed that “the award translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to consolidate Dubai’s position as a global hub for renewable energy and sustainable development, as the award represents a bridge for cooperation between various parties to achieve global sustainability goals.”

His Excellency added : “The UAE’s commitment to developing such pioneering initiatives reflects its ambitious vision, as the award has gone beyond its role as a platform to honor projects, but has become a strategic tool to raise awareness and adopt best practices in energy management and clean energy.”

His Excellency pointed out that “international cooperation is the key to the success of major climate initiatives. The Emirates Energy Award seeks to create an innovative environment in which ideas and projects can flourish and expand, becoming part of global solutions that help build a sustainable future.”

In this context, His Excellency Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Emirates Energy Award , pointed out that “the award is a pivotal platform to highlight sustainable innovations and solutions that can inspire communities around the world to achieve sustainable development goals.”

Award objectives: Promoting sustainability and creativity

The award focuses on supporting innovation in clean energy and sustainable natural resource management. It aims to:

• Honoring pioneering projects that contribute to reducing carbon emissions and achieving energy efficiency.
• Spread awareness about the importance of sustainable energy and encourage individuals and institutions to adopt responsible environmental practices.
• Support scientific research and technical development to promote the transition to clean energy.
• Create a global platform for the exchange of ideas and solutions between local and international entities.

Prominent global role in  COP29

The award’s role was recently highlighted through its participation in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The award presented a comprehensive presentation of its objectives, categories, and previous achievements, which strengthened its position as a pioneering Emirati initiative that supports international cooperation in the field of sustainable energy. The Emirates Energy Award was keen to participate in prominent international forums such as COP29 to highlight the UAE’s efforts in promoting sustainability and opening new horizons for cooperation with actors in this field. The conference also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and showcase innovative projects that have achieved remarkable success in reducing the carbon footprint, which contributed to enhancing dialogue on how to achieve a balance between development requirements and environmental protection.

Achievements Track: 2012 to 2025

Since its launch in 2012, the Emirates Energy Award has made remarkable progress, attracting more than 600 applications from over 40 countries. The main categories of the award include large and small energy projects, energy efficiency, circular economy, education and capacity building, innovation, and scientific research.

الابتكار كمحور للدورة الخامسة

وتستمر الدورة الخامسة للجائزة في تسليط الضوء على الابتكار كمحور رئيسي لتعزيز الاستدامة. وتتضمن المشاريع المشاركة في هذه الدورة حلولًا تقنية جديدة مثل تحويل النفايات إلى طاقة، وتحسين كفاءة المباني، وتطوير تقنيات الطاقة المتجددة. وتركز الجائزة على دعم المشاريع التي تقدم نماذج مستدامة يمكن تطبيقها على نطاق واسع لتحسين نوعية الحياة في المجتمعات المختلفة. كما تشجع الجائزة على الابتكار كونه القوة المحركة التي تمكّن المجتمعات من مواجهة تحديات المناخ بطريقة مستدامة.

الجدول الزمني للدورة الخامسة

تستمر عملية تقديم الطلبات للدورة الخامسة حتى الأول من مارس 2025. وسيُقام حفل توزيع الجوائز في أكتوبر 2025، بحضور قادة وخبراء من مختلف أنحاء العالم. ومع استمرار تطور الجائزة، تستقطب الدورة الخامسة عددًا كبيرًا من المشاركات الدولية، مما يعزز مكانتها كمنصة رائدة للابتكار في مجال الطاقة.

إلتزام إماراتي برؤية مستدامة

وتجسد جائزة الإمارات للطاقة التزام الدولة برؤية مستدامة تتماشى مع مئوية الإمارات 2071. ومع تسارع وتيرة التحديات البيئية، تبرز الجائزة كأداة استراتيجية لدفع عجلة التحول نحو الاقتصاد الأخضر.

وتمثل جائزة الإمارات للطاقة فرصة فريدة لتكريم الجهود المتميزة في قطاع الطاقة المستدامة. كما أنها مصدر إلهام للجهات العالمية، للعمل المشترك لتحقيق مستقبل أفضل للأجيال الحالية والقادمة.

دور الجائزة في التنويه بالمشاريع المميزة في الامارات

وتُساهم الجائزة في دعم الجهود العالمية لتوفير الطاقة النظيفة والمتجددة من خلال المشاريع الفائزة من العديد من دول العالم والتي ساعدت على توفير حلول الطاقة النظيفة. وفي دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، تمكّنت الجائزة من تسليط الضوء وإبراز العديد من المشاريع التي تعزز كفاءة الطاقة وتقدم بدائل وتجارب ناجحة. فعلى سبيل المثال، في دورة عام 2022 لجائزة الإمارات للطاقة فازت بلدية أبوظبي بمشروعها تحديث المباني العامة لتوفير المياه والكهرباء، في فئة كفاءة الطاقة – القطاع العام، وفازت منطقة دبي الحرة في المطار بمشروعها تحديث المباني لتوفير المياه والكهرباء في فئة كفاءة الطاقة – القطاع العام، كما فازت مطارات دبي بمشروع تحديث المباني لتقليل استهلاك المياه والكهرباء في فئة كفاءة الطاقة – القطاع الخاص. وفي دورة عام 2017 فازت شركة أبوظبي لضبط الكربون عن مشروعها التقاط واستخدام وتخزين الكربون في فئة مشاريع الطاقة الكبيرة، وفاز مركز محمد بن راشد للفضاء عن مشروع كفاءة الطاقة والحفاظ على الموارد في فئة مشاريع الطاقة الصغيرة، وفاز مشروع الكفاءة التشغيلية والتحسين الذي تقدمت به شركة أبوظبي لتطوير الغاز المحدودة في فئة كفاءة الطاقة، القطاع العام. كما فاز مشروع أنظمة التحلية التي تقدمت به شركة أبوظبي لطاقة المستقبل (مصدر) في فئة البحث والتطوير. وفاز مشروع تدابير كفاءة الطاقة والتحسين من مجموعة إعمار مولز في فئة كفاءة الطاقة – القطاع الخاص.

تعزيز التعاون الدولي لمستقبل مستدام
