The Emirates Energy Award (EEA), one of the most significant regional initiatives under the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), held its first regional roadshow in Casablanca, Morocco.
The awards are presented every two years and seek to encourage energy conservation and sustainable development.
As part of a series of outreach programmes to promote the award, the DSCE organised the roadshow which included a press conference attended by representatives from media, universities, and scientific research institutions.
Representatives of the DSCE presented a visual overview on the EEA, including details about the award, its goals as well as basic principles, categories of the award, and rules for entry.
“The EEA is one of the most significant initiatives launched by the Supreme Council to promote sustainable development, raise awareness on energy-efficiency and its critical role in developing communities,” said Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the DSCE, in a press statement.
“The award is a great opportunity for individuals and organisations to showcase their projects and exchange expertise. The EEA aims to honour outstanding projects and recognise best practices in the fields of energy efficiency,” he added.
Ahmad Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the DSCE, said, “By hosting the roadshow in the country, we are promoting the EEA to attract the largest possible nominations, and to encourage companies and individuals to present their projects for this award. The award will provide a strong opportunity for exchange of expertise in the energy and renewable energy sector.”
The delegation at the press conference included Omar Ahmad Al Quraishi, Vice-Chairman of the Marketing Committee; Taher Diab, Secretary-General of the EAA, and Ali Al Suwaidi, Corporate Communications Director of the DSCE.
The DSCE will continue to receive submissions for various categories of the Emirates Energy Awards 2012-2013. The closing date for accepting the nominations is June 30, 2013.
